ONLINE vs REALITY - The SITTING edition Repeat after me: I will NOT COMPARE MY REAL to someone else’s HIGHLIGHT REEL. We’re spending a lot of times on our phones right now. And a whole lot of perfection is staring right back up at us. Here’s just one example: The classic FITSPO / BIKINI kneeling pose. My core is tight, hips popped back, bum squeezing, arm overhead, legs toward camera. It looks a bit cray from the side but it’s super flattering. PLUS I’m shooting at sunrise, which has far softer, nicer light than midday. All that creates one of those great little INSTA SNAPS. Only it’s not how I’d actually sit. In real life, I sit, well, like a human. Comfortably. If you want to try the pose, GO for it. Rock it. You take those fierce photos. If you don’t want to try it, also cool. I just wanted to remind you today that social media is filtered. Movies are filtered. Magazines are filtered. None of it is a standard against which you should compare yourself. YOU, as you are, with your own sunshine and smile and heart and soul, that is pretty darn incredible. And I’m glad you’re here. I’m glad you’re real. x . . #posing #womenirl #bodyacceptance #bodyconfidence #instagramvsreality

Social media IS NOT real - even when it comes to SITTING DOWN. Just check out these three popular INSTA-POSES. And if you’re feeling brave, try the first one. I dare you. It took me 10 minutes and lots of falling to figure it out 😂❤️. Today I just wanted to remind you gals how filtered this online world is. How casual poses are rarely actually RELAXED. And how you’re GREAT exactly as you are. Now if you fancy taking your own snaps at home, here’s how it all worked: All the insta poses involve arching my back, exhaling, squeezing my core, and lifting an arm. All super flattering things. Plus I’m using SIDE LIGHTING. There’s a window on my right. The light comes in sideways and creates that great shadow/bright contrast on the CORE. PLUS I’m shooting in a mirror. Mirror + side light = the best situation for fierce selfies. So there we go! Just a reminder today about how all this stuff works. A little pulling back of the curtain. And a big reminder about how amazing you are: Whether you’ve got abs all the time (like certain hard working fitspo I know ❤️), sometimes, never, or whatever. However your body is shaped, what matters the most is that YOU are YOU. And that’s pretty incredible indeed. x #posing #socialmediavsreality #selfies #fitspo #posingtips #instavsreallife #bodyconfidence Top @womensbestwear

허리를 아치형으로 꺾고, 코어를 쥐어짜고, 팔을 들어 올려 긴장감을 주네요. 옆으로 들어오는 빛은 대비를 만들어 놀라운 몸의 모양을 만들어냅니다.

How do influencers get GREAT BOOTIE PHOTOS? But also - SOCIAL MEDIA is NOT REAL. Seriously. It’s not. Look how much my bumbum transforms just by how I’m standing. PLUS I’m in SHADOW, which hides my cellulite and stretchmarks. And I’m filming on a LOW RES FRONT CAM, which does the same. Here’s how I did it. THE BIKINI: You usually see this pose in TRAVEL SNAPS, with a tanned beach bum framed against a blue sky. Sometimes there’s a guy’s hand reaching up. HOW: Bikini high for longer leg lines; step my feet apart; pop my hips back; arms overhead so waist looks longer; and bam take photo. It looks crazy from the side though 😂❤️. THE WORKOUT WEAR: Bonus points for light coloured leggings and/or bum rusching, which adds to this. HOW: Face away from camera, legs in a line. Rotate over one shoulder. Squeeze back bum cheek. Arch hips back. Squeeze core. Arms overhead for long waist. Bam! Take photo. So there you go. Look, if you want to run around taking all the bumbum photos and rocking all the angles, go for it. But more importantly, remember this: SOCIAL MEDIA is not REAL. It’s POSED. FILTERED. PERFECTED. Especially with aesthetic photos. So don’t compare yourself. Don’t be hard on yourself. You’re doing great - no bootie pose required x . Also top is @womensbestwear @womensbest.me . #instagramvsreality #socialmediavsreality #fitspo #bodyconfidence #selflove #posing

Hands up if you can relate! 😂🙋‍♀️ Buuuut jokes aside - BLOATING happens to me a LOT. When I’m hormonal. When I’m stressed. When I eat this or that. And most the time I’m OK with it, but sometimes, sometimes it hits me hard. Today was one of those days. But here’s where BODY ACCEPTANCE comes in. And here’s what I want to say to all YOU GALS. Body acceptance tells us that even on our bad days — and we will have bad days, even Lizzo has bad days — we are still worth KINDNESS. We still deserve FOOD. We are STILL incredible creatures that can move and train and work and play and relax. And that a bad DAY or a BAD BLOAT doesn’t MAKE US BAD. Every time one of those negative pebbles of thought pops up (‘I’m disgusting’ ‘I’m a failure’ ‘Maybe I should just skip the next meal’), wrap it in the softness of self love. Again and again until the SELF DOUBT wobbles drift off or fade away or are forgotten, if only for a moment. This helps me on hard days. This gives me strength on good ones. And honestly, you gals do too. I’m glad we’re in this together. x Kit @womensbest.me @womensbestwear #selflove #bopo #bloating #normalizenormalbodies

Same girl. Same day. SAME WORTH. But we don’t see both these types of photos to the same extent on social media. The online world is filtered. Here, TikTok, Twitter, wherever. It’s a series of magic moments and perfect poses that have been reshot and filtered and adjusted until they embody the ideal. This doesn’t just go for the stream of ‘ideal’ bodies. It goes for incredibly romantic adventures or cool crafts or perfect parenting moments. All of these, all of what’s on display, is so often part of someone else’s HIGHLIGHT REEL. And it’s easy to feel our REAL doesn’t quite measure up. Only your REAL is magnificent. It’s flawed and complex and complicated, but it’s also HUMAN. It’s also authentic and raw and YOU. And that? That is far more incredible than anything social media could ever hope to display. . . #bopo #selflove #bodypositive #iweigh #whstrong #instagramvsreality

In a society that profits from self doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act. I’ve been thinking a lot about these two quotes lately (the one in the mirror is by @happyhealthyhans). About how we as WOMEN are TAUGHT so much self HATE and DISLIKE from a young age. By brands. By media. By family members and partners and friends. It’s so pervasive that it seems normal. We even see it NOW, when there is a PANDEMIC but somehow WEIGHT LOSS has become the focus. But the horrible thing with all of this is that it keeps us feeling small. Fragile. Half broken or weak. We are taught to tear ourselves apart so we do - and along the way, we diminish our incredible, inescapable power. I lost years of my life to the grey haze that comes with being obsessed with the mirror. I’ve found just how vibrant the other side can be. So today, I want to stress this: What you see in the mirror is not your enemy. That body you have been so taught to hate is truly your greatest friend. And when women stand together, whole both in OURSELVES and as a community, that strength is momentous. We can change lives. We can change countries. We can help friends and make days brighter and raise children and raise cats and love with the full force of the goodness inside of us. We can do SO MUCH. SO MUCH more than DIET CULTURE would ever want us to even dare to believe. So let’s do it. Let’s try. Me, you, and all the wonderful, complicated parts of your reflection. We are in this together. No diets required. . . . #iweigh #feminist #perfectlyme #normalizenormalbodies #selflove
